My sexy desktop

Well I received a lot of comments and mails about my overall *sexy* desktop layout and look…

So to get everyone down a bit here is what you need to use and set up to have your desktop look like mine…

  • Get the Elementary wallpaper right here

  • Get Dockysudo add-apt-repository ppa:docky-core/ppa && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get install dockyOnce done set your Docky settings window to look like this:

  • Ok now for the fonts:

  • And last but not least the Icon Set, I use Faenza: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tiheum/equinox && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install faenza-icon-theme
  • I modified the theme by changing the controls to Dust

I hope you enjoy the experience like I do

SO, this is novice, but using the panel png you included I can’t get the whole panel to change. the notification area stays as it was. Is there an easy fix for this?

Isn’t there an easy way to package this / and give us a one click theme install? (or perhaps two, should there be any warnings)

As an avid KDE user and developer, and never one who enjoyed the looks of GNOME the least bit, I think you have made me like a theme with GNOME. Good work there, I really do like the spiffyness there :)

With this background, I’m pretty sure I can smell the wood.

Very cool. It is nice to see excellent desktops, and it is very nice to see the steps to reproduce them! Thanks!!!

I see that ‘File’ and ‘Edit’ in the top panel, your guide here is not complete.

Come now, the global menu bar is the best part of the whole thing. Is that the Ubuntu Menu Bar from Maverick or gnome-globalmenu on Lucid?

Did you modify the FineryDark theme? It’s not looking the same on my end. Notably, I’m seeing the tab widget in a preferences dialog as the same color as the window, unlike in your screenshots.

thanks this looks great on my old dell laptop. But I could not figure out how to get the theme going under XFCE.

You can tell in detail how to make just one panel transparent?

    Works for me in Lucid.

The missing steps can be provided by Google.
