Hello,
Have-you think about using calendar entries in the time line ?
I mean, I’m not shure we think : « I search for a file in the past 6 month », but « I search for files I used after my vacation in Paris, but befor my sister’s wedding ».
And all this informations are in calendars, the timeline is not « event related » and our perception of time not so linear. Events in the time are much more the way we manage time.
So, having this kind of information on top of the timeline would be great.

I hope one day I could find a file « saying » it was during my vacation (calendar) in spain (geotaging), I was chatting with my friend Bastien and listening Beethoven » !

Thank’s a lot,
Olivier.

I don't find this interface clear enough. You probably already know that, but here is what I notice when watching this demo:

-the time frame is really really really too small. This search tool looks like the regular search tool, you have to carefully look at the interface to notice that the time frame is set to "today". As it has a huge impact on the selection of files appearing, this should appear as some kind of "title" above the files window. Otherwise this will be very confusing for users I think.

Also I always find it more elegant to put the quantity before rather than after: 6 documents seems more elegant than Documents (6) I think.

Finally, the groups of files should not be aligned on the left border of the window to me, but to the left border of the files windows. It has nothing to do with the "places" list just below. I would leave the "places" list to the left, then put things like that:

-------------------------------------
Today (in black, much bigger) +-
6 videos 7 photos 3 documents
-------------------------------------
file icons

-------------------------------------

I wish I could code on interfaces to test these ideas, but unfortunately, I can just throw ideas here. Maybe you already had them, but just in case... Keep up the good work guys !
