Weird, the “zoom” works opposite from what I would have imagined. This is how I imagine it:

“plus” = zoom in to see a smaller time duration
“minus” = zoom out to see a larger time duration

Because that’s how it works when zooming the space dimension:

“plus” = zoom in to see a smaller space (i.e. make the smaller space bigger)
“minus” = zoom out to see a larger space

I agree with anonymous above, my mind seems to have expected the opposite on those controls. I have no science to explain why, it just does :)

But it looks and works great! I can’t wait to see this on my desktop!

That’s not a zoom icon, that’s a plus (from more days) and a minus (from less days)….it seems so….

Hi!! I really like the idea: I already know that I’m gonna get addicted to such a thing!! One question and one suggestion:
Suggestion: put OLDER files on top: the user will press the plus button to look for files older than those already displayed. It would be handy to put them on top. (Yes, I know. That’s just a mockup..)
Question: could you clarify the relation to docky2? Will this sidebar also behave as a taskbar/quicklauncher? Will it show icons for currently open documents instead of applications? :)

    Thanks! ;)

I like the over look of it but have two suggestions:

1: Make the Search box (or the “3 Days” label) fixed width, it is distracting when that jumps about the place
2: Instead of +/- buttons, how about using the same sort of things you would use on a video/music player for going back/forward in time (≪ ≫).

But without any preview of the contents of any of these documents, how do I know what they *are*?

I thought most of the point of this stuff was to move away from users having to rely on filenames and directory structures to figure out which files were which? Otherwise it’s all just a bigger Recent Files menu.
