<a href="#comment-2384" rel="nofollow">@Seif Lotfy</a>
Of course, the filesystem won't be replaced by this, nor should it be (can you imagine trying to do a coding project without any directories?!). It's also fine if you just set out to make something that worked for you, but I do think that gnome would benefit from being able to hook into this functionality from various other places. But that's the beauty of open source isn't it - you can do your part and others can help out with other parts.

I'm glad that you've made the system so extensible, and I hope that this means this kind of integration will be possible by someone (maybe even I'll have a go at it). Some kind of dbus interface would be helpful to this end to allow queries to be made and results returned I suppose.

I left your insightful and enlightening comments don't worry
http://seilo.geekyogre.com/2009/03/gnome-zeitgeist-improving/#comments
We are not looking to replace the hierarchal filesystem and it was never our goal.
I simply wanted a program that ould ease searching for docs for me! It worked!

Haha, cowards, erase previous comments :D:D:D
Now I explain kids, why this piece of shi^Wsoftware is a piece of shit. The explanation is very clear: you can emulate suggested approach with file hierarchy quite easily. But you can't easily emulate file hierarchy with this approach. Both approaches have advantages and disadvantages, but the best approach is more universal one. So you would lose. Keep in mind gnome-shell is soooo slow and can't be faster because of the js and in fact provides no more than traditional gnome desktop with workspaces. So you both will lose. It wouldn't be so bad. But you idiots remember, KDE4 has already lost. So if gnome will lose, the Linux Desktop will lose. And this will be your fault.

Exciting stuff. What would really make a difference (and put Gnome a step ahead of KDE in my opinion) is if this kind of functionality was integrated into the file "open" and "save" dialogs of Gnome 3.0 so that you don't have to resort to the standard "browse filesystem" method when interacting with your files from inside an application. Otherwise the tags/activities metaphor kind of breaks because it's not being used consistently across the whole desktop environment. Are there any plans to do this and would it be possible within the plugin architecture?

Intrepid comes with python 2.5 which doesn't have the multiprocessing module by default. There is a backported version on python.org and on google code. Without it. Mayanna won't run.

Sounds like a service oriented architecture which might be too heavy, leading to service-spaghetti, and all that. I sincerely hope that Mayanna doesn't fall down under it's own weight.

So the whole project will remain in python and the mono porting idea will be abandoned?
